The Georgetown Celtic Fiddle Orchestra is an Academy of Music program designed for fiddlers, violinists, guitarists, accordianists and flautists in Georgetown Ontario and the surrounding area to learn and perform traditional Celtic music from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Under the direction of James Franczek we play several sets of traditional celtic tunes and perform in concert at various times of the year ( Spring concert, Celtic Festivals, etc ). James is also the founder and music director for the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club.
Below is an example of the type of music we will be learning, as performed by James Franczek and the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club
Musicians work in an orchestra style setting while they play their music all together. This orchestra is for musicians and music students aged 12 years and up that have been playing for at least 2 years that would like to learn new tunes and work on becoming stronger musicians. It's a great suppliment to classical lessons.
Orchestra rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 starting September 8, 2011
The Georgetown Celtic Fiddle Orchestra is proud to help support the Georgetown / Oakville Violin Lesson Scholarship Program
All rehearsals are at the Georgetown School of Music - 330 Guelph St. Georgetown Ontario L7G 4B5
